Had a great time connecting with Joshua, who is the youth pastor at The Gate, a church that is really reaching out and putting Jesus on display in OKC. A mutual friend, Elena, introduced us. Joshua has such a passion for Jesus and is advancing the kingdom. (Joshua, I was really glad to meet you and look forward to connecting with you more.)
As we met for lunch at Panera Bread and we were ordering our food, I felt the Holy Spirit speak to me about a condition in the lady's back who was taking our order. I said, "You're having a pain right between the shoulder blades, aren't you?"
"Yes," she said. "How did you know?"
"Well, we are followers of Jesus, and he tells us about conditions in people's bodies because he wants to demonstrate his love. What's your pain on a scale of 1 to 10?"
"Oh, a 10 or more," she replied. So I asked her if we could pray for her back. She was so open.
Joshua and I took ahold of her hand and spoke to the pain to go then told her to move her neck around. As she did she said, "How did you do that?!"
"That was Jesus," we explained.
"I know, but how did you do that? All the pain left." Again we said it was the love of Jesus, and that's what followers of Jesus do. She was still so taken back, she was tearing up saying, "I'm going to cry." All the pain was gone. She said, "How
did you know that and do that?! Wow! I can't believe it. Thank you so much," she said with tears filling her eyes and co-workers just standing next to her smiling. She was so stunned and grateful to Jesus and for us taking the time to demonstrate His love and power.
We all have so many opportunities to demonstrate the love and power of a good God. All it takes is stepping out in love and taking a risk. Let's put Jesus on display as we go about our day.
